What is JUVÉDERM®?
JUVÉDERM® is a smooth consistency gel similar to Restylane made of hyaluronic acid—a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration to the skin. The Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar found in the human body.
Where does JUVÉDERM® work?
Everyone’s skin ages differently and JUVÉDERM® may be used to rejuvenate multiple problem areas.* From smile lines to vertical lip lines, to lip enhancement, you can smooth away unwanted wrinkles and restore natural contours.
How Does JUVÉDERM® Work?
Young, healthy-looking skin contains an abundance of a naturally hydrating substance called hyaluronic acid (HA). But as you age, sunlight and other factors can reduce the amount of HA in your skin. The lack of HA causes your skin to lose structure and volume, creating unwanted facial wrinkles and folds – like those parentheses lines around your nose and mouth.
Using a dermal filler like JUVÉDERM® is a safe and effective way to replace the HA your skin has lost, bringing back its volume and smoothing away facial wrinkles and folds.
At our New York office the doctor will ease JUVÉDERM® injectable gel under the skin to instantly restore your skin’s volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds, like your “smile lines” (nasolabial folds—the creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth). JUVÉDERM® provides a smooth, natural look that everyone will notice, but no one will know.
What is the difference between JUVEDERM® ULTRA VERSUS JUVEDERM® ULTRA PLUS?
Allergan’s Juvederm® comes in two different formulations (Ultra and Ultra plus), so that treatment can be individualized to meet your cosmetic needs.
Juvederm Ultra® is designed to give you the flexibility to correct both your facial wrinkles, nasolabial folds, and for lip augmentation.
Juvederm Ultra Plus® is more cross-linked than the regular Juvederm and as such it can be used better for “volumizing” for deep wrinkles and folds. As an added benefit, the Ultra Plus lasts much longer in the end giving you more bang for your buck.
The world’s most popular and most studied cosmetic dermal filler, Restylane® offers exceptional treatments for moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, especially the nasolabial folds that stretch from the nose to the corners of the mouth. Restylane replenishes lost volume in the skin and restores youthful contours to the face by lifting and supporting tissues non-surgically. The outcome is a younger, smoother look with fewer lines and wrinkles. Results are immediate and long-lasting.
Restylane® is a long-lasting, crystal-clear gel made with purified hyaluronic acid, a natural sugar that is found throughout your body. It is almost identical to that naturally found in the body and is used for filling out lips, facial wrinkles and facial folds. . The product is naturally integrated into human tissue, allowing nutritive agents and cells to pass freely through the gel. Once in the skin, Restylane® works together with the body’s own hyaluronic acid and joins forces to create volume. Unlike permanent soft tissue implants, Restylane always leaves you a choice when the effect of the treatment has worn off.
Restylane® is available in two forms:
Perlane is the most concentrated formula and is used for deeps line. Facial contours like the cheeks, chin, and hollowness under the eyes can all be improved with this product.
Restylane®, a little less dense, is used for the lips, facial wrinkles around the mouth, forehead or eyes.
How long the effect of Restylane® treatment lasts depends is very individual. It depends on many factors, such as the structure of the skin, lifestyle and age as well as on the degree of perfection demanded by the individual. However, we know that for the majority of the patients treated about 50-80 % of the effect remains after 6 months.
Restylane contains no animal products, unlike many of the substances that are found in other injectable cosmetic fillers. There is no need for pre-treatment skin tests. Restylane is a very safe product. The most common side effects of treatment are swelling, redness, pain, bruising and tenderness in and around the injection areas. These typically fade within a week.
